Some people might consider that being a Manager or Principal of a real estate office and being a great Leader of your team are interchangeable concepts. This is not so.
In order to survive, and thrive in real estate, you must become a great leader, be innovative, creative and, more importantly proactive.
Effective leaders are coached to anticipate problems and opportunities; to motivate and develop strategic responses; and to actively involve themselves in the implementation of action-oriented plans and doing so practively.
In contrast, management of agency is often a reactive process, the Principal or Manager of the agency will react to whatever situations happen to arise. When problems develop, the manager reacts and responds according to what the situation demands of them in that moment; they spend their precious time “putting out fires”. When they pursue action, it’s typically on familiar terrain and perhaps through revisiting past strategies that are often outdated.
